Why won’t single payer healthcare work in the U.S.? What is different in Sweden, Denmark, or Canada?

[Answered on Quora.com by J.J.R.]

I once listened to a talk by the world's leading expert on corruption. The expert was asked, flat out, whether the U.S. government was corrupt. The expert said ...
.
“It is impossible to say if the government of the United States is corrupt. What qualifies as corruption in other countries is the way your government is designed to work.”

The U.S. government is DESIGNED to be corrupt. In most other countries, the way our government works on a daily basis would be illegal.

That's why single payer healthcare works everywhere else but here.
