What 10 things have you stopped doing in your life?
[Answered on Quora.com by Manish]
1. I stopped overthinking. I stopped thinking about my past and future. I'm just trying to live in present.
2. I stopped using social media. Bec'z the world of social media is totally different from real.
3. I stopped comparing myself with others. I learned how to accept the things I have and never feel bad for what I can't afford.
4. I stopped trusting on unknown. Bec'z today everybody is ready to break your trust.
5. I stopped playing addictive games like COD, FREE FIRE, PUBG.
6. I stopped believing in ghosts, black magic, soul…etc. But I believe in God.
7. I stopped wasting my time on fake friends. Because your enemy is much better than your fake friend.
8. I stopped believing in myths.
9. I stopped arguing/convincing people who're adamant in their own ideals. Because it's a total waste of time.
10. I want to stop everything which is not good for me, for my family.
Thank you
Manish kr.

Willpower (from daily ACA email)
"We must shatter the illusion that we can reason out a painless solution."
Adult children do not lack willpower. We have relied on our iron willpower to carry us through the most difficult of times. Sometimes, we may convince ourselves that in order to heal, we simply need more inner resolve. Even after we're in ACA, some of us try to will our Laundry List Traits away, thinking if we only had greater determination to get better, we could make different, healthier choices. Our desire is in the right place, seeking healing and recovery, but the method falls short. We may think we can read or learn about an easier solution and get better on our own, but we need the Twelve Steps of recovery and the fellowship to truly heal. There is no painless solution to our problem.
Throughout recovery, we will feel emotions and pain we may have suppressed. Grief over our childhood will surface, but it will not consume us. Our inner strength, once relied on for survival, will now give us the courage we need. We turn our determination not toward fixing ourselves in isolation, but to committing to our recovery in a supportive group setting.
On this day I accept the emotions that arise during my recovery journey, knowing any pain is temporary, and joy is possible as I continue to heal.

As a transgender man, I know my mother grieves for the daughter she has lost. How do I help her without making her feel worse?
[Answered on Quora.com by Petey Lao]
Every once in a while, I grieve for my daughter’s passing youth and innocence. I reminisce about the time she was a helpless baby, when she first learned to speak, and the entire year, “I love you, Papa,” was all she ever said.
As my daughter grows up, I know that the little girl who used to run into my bed after a bad dream is left behind. She’s gone forever. I will never get her back.
But, I get to watch my daughter grow into an amazing human being.
I know I’m not alone in this. Every parent of a cisgender or transgender child feels some sort of yearning - the longing for the simpler times.
Your becoming your authentic self did not end your mother’s relationship with her young daughter. Time did. Her grief for your past is not your fault. You cannot make it worse.
Keep showing up as the son your mother can be proud of. Only you can introduce her to the wonder that is your truth.

What is a subtle sign that someone is not doing well mentally?
[Answered on Quora.com by Jason N.]
Well, there are a lot of different ways in which someone could be experiencing a decline in their state of mental health, each with its own set of symptoms, but if I were to choose just one that most accurately encapsulates most of them, it would probably be:
Withdrawing from engaging in activities they used to enjoy and/or isolating.
Worsening anxiety and/or depression that stems from a chemical imbalance, a major life stressor, or a recent trauma would likely all result in a person doing that.
Even the first break with reality seen in chronic conditions such as in schizophrenia would likely see a change in the way a person engages with the world, or lack thereof.
It’s sad, too. So many people get so offended when someone they know begins to pull away from them due to experiencing a decline in their mental health.
I have struggled with depression on and off throughout my life, and if I were missing 4 fingers on my right hand, I’d still be able to count the number of people who were still present after I began to isolate.

Have you ever met a dangerous person and not known it at the time?
[Answered on Quora.com by Frances Ranch]
Our family had two children, my big brother by three years and me. My first memory as a toddler was him holding my head under water in the bathtub. I could see his face through the water, his cold, cold blue eyes looking at me through the bubbles of my breath in the water. If Mom hadn’t come home then, I think I would have died. He told her I slipped in the tub and he “saved” me. She never believed me, although I never lied and my brother was in trouble all the time. Another time he got a set of darts and forced me to stand in front of the wooden garage door while he played “circus” and landed one in my knee. I lived in danger and fear my whole childhood. High school was heaven for him, he joined a gang and left me alone. He was in trouble all the time with the law, which meant he was too busy to torment me. I chose to go to college 800 miles away, at the other end of California. It was Heaven, for the first time in my life I felt safe.
